Every investment decision matters
A Responsible Investment Pioneer in China
E Fund is one of the first fund managers in China to embrace responsible investing. As a responsible investing practitioner, we aim to promote the long-term sustainable development of our society. Since 2017, we had joined the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), Asian Corporate Governance Association (ACGA), and other responsible investing initiatives, which aligns our responsible investing practice with global standards. Through our connection with local and global platforms such as AMAC (Asset Management Association of China) and the PRI, we actively contribute to the development of responsible investing globally by sharing our on-the-ground experience with investment communities worldwide.
2024
We participated in Spring, a PRI stewardship initiative for nature.
2023
We joined China Climate Engagement Initiative (CCEI) as a founding member.
2021
We became a signatory to CDP.
2020
We joined Climate Action 100+ (CA100+) and became a public supporter of Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
2019
We launched an ESG fixed-income strategy with a global leading pension and our own ESG equity mutual fund.
2018
We also became a member of the UK-China Environmental Disclosure Pilot, and launched our ESG Fintech project Ark.ESG.
2017
We became a signatory to PRI and joined ACGA. In partnership with a global leading pension, we launched the first ESG equity pension strategy that invest in the China A market.
Our Understanding of Responsible Investing
Responsible investing is the investment practice that incorporates environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) into investment decision-making and active ownership. E Fund believes companies with good environmental, social and governance performance have lower risks and bring better returns in the long run. By investing in these companies and practicing active ownership, we are able to generate long-term sustainable returns for our clients and facilitate the sustainable development of our society.
Our Responsible Investment Approach
We practice responsible investment through ESG incorporation and active ownership.
  • Active ownership
    Through engagement and proxy voting, we actively exercise our shareholder rights to promote good corporate governance, and sustainable social and environmental development of our investees.
  • ESG incorporation
    We have established our proprietary ESG evaluation framework and integrated ESG factors into our investment research and decision-making processes. This facilitates the analysis of our investments’ long-term risks and values, which improves our risk-adjusted return in the long run.
ESG Data Technology
Leveraging our industry-leading fintech capabilities, E Fund developed a proprietary ESG data platform called Ark.ESG. This platform uses machine learning and big data technologies to extract and organize ESG data in real time. Leveraging Natural Language Processing and Knowledge Graph technologies, Ark.ESG processes and organizes the data collected into structured information that can be easily referred to. In addition, Ark.ESG’s data streams are well integrated with internal data platforms and provide ESG data support for our investment research, factor testing, and risk management functions.
